President's Report
Centenary Plans
Welcome to the start of the 2021 pre-season training period for our club as we strive to succeed in VAFA Men’s Premier ‘A’ Section and Women’s Premier ‘B’ section. Training started on Monday 9 November, with structured running programs for players, 2 nights per week, in small groups and keeping appropriate social distancing. The fitness sessions are currently being based at Bulleen Park, Bulleen and Yarra Bend, Fairfield, under the direction of Brad Jenkinson, our High Performance Manager. Numbers have been strong for this time of year with most of the players looking fit.

Playing Values and Behaviours presentation at training last night

We welcome Kieser on board as our medical services partner for 2021. They will provide all our physiotherapy and associated needs for the coming year. The club undertook a thorough selection process to determine the best organisation for looking after our player’s medical wellbeing and Kieser stood out as a great fit for us. Kieser has many locations across metropolitan Melbourne including at Level 1/10 Prospect Hill Road, Camberwell, just down the road from McQueen Park We will make a more detailed announcement about our exciting new partnership with Kieser in the coming weeks, which will include benefits for all our players, members and partners.
Player Leadership Program
Under the mentoring of former coach, Brendan Mason (Same Page Cultures), the Men’s player leadership team continue to formulate their plans for 2021 and beyond. They have established a group of player values which sits well under our clubs’ vision and quality standards. Brendan will commence working with the women’s leadership group shortly to review their player values already developed. The football department and player leadership group will go through the values with the broader playing group next week at training. Brendan specialises in developing and building cohesive teams in all types of organisations and I encourage his services to you.
 Player Handbook
There has been considerable work done in putting together a new player handbook, for all players in the club, men and women. The handbook has completed production and being distributed to all players. This will also be available on the club website for all of you to have a look at.

Women's 2nd Team
We are working hard to field a 2nd women’s team in Premier ‘B’ Section for 2021. Promotion is being done across various social media and with our community partners including MLC & Camberwell Sharks Junior Football Club. If you know any girl 16 or older interested in a game of football and/or just wanting to come down and try out, contact Ian Hill, our Women’s Football Co-ordinator on 0411 759 278.

Facilities - McQueen Park
The building project for the major and minor pavilions continues to progress with completion of both now planned by the end of 2020. This will be a great boost to our facilities for playing, training and socialising in our Centenary year and beyond.

With a lot of hard work by a lot of people at Old Scotch Football Club we had a solid financial year in 2020 (year ended 31 October), given the challenges COVID-19 brought to the club and the broader community. Thank-you to our loyal Foundation members, non-playing members, the many players that made a contribution, our corporate partners who stuck fat with us this year and the three levels of Government who provided great support. Our auditors, TGS Partners Chartered Accountants, are currently signing off on our financials in time for our AGM. We are now in a sound financial position to launch into our big centenary year, of course still needing your support again.

AGM 2020
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on 9 December at 7.30pm. We are waiting on confirmation if we can conduct the meeting in person at Scotch College or alternatively via Zoom Videoconference. Formal notification will go out to all members this coming week.

Centenary Year
To assist with centenary events we are seeking Centenary representatives. A number of past players have volunteered their support which is wonderful. Again, if you would like to assist please contact our General Manager Peter Simpson via email at or 0418 382 025.

Converted milk bar in Richmond fetches $2.125 million under the hammer

A former corner milk bar-turned-family home in Richmond sold under the hammer for $2.125 million on Saturday. Eight bidders registered, of whom three tussled for the keys to 43 Bendigo Street, which was on the market for the first time since 2009.

Lachie Fraser-Smith said “This is the second property we have sold for a property advocate in the last 12 months! The other was for Melbourne’s No.1 Rob Millar, who let me say is no standover, so I guess Richard and I will take working with the master as a compliment.”

Fraser-Smith added that the property garnered attention due to its location and unique back story – it was held by the same family from the 1880s to 2009 and previously operated as a milk bar and wine bar. He said the north-facing terrace with city views was a major drawcard.

If you are thinking of selling, there is still time, and the tide is running fast so contact Lachie Fraser Smith on 0418 399 182 or Richard Winneke 0418 136 858 now and let Jellis Craig give you the same Gold level service the Club receives from their ongoing support of Old Scotch.
