Vol. LXVIII No.1

President's Report
The OSFC Centenary Year is here!
It is with great delight that I welcome you all to the Old Scotch Football Club’s Centenary year…and what a year it promises to be! The boys and girls are back at Scotch for pre-season training and hopes for the forthcoming season are high!
Old Scotch Star Mimi Hill made her AFLW debut for the Blues last night!
Our very own Mimi Hill made her debut for Carlton in the season opening clash against traditional rivals Collingwood at Ikon Park last night. Mimi had a great debut gathering 12 possessions.
Carlton selected Mimi with pick No.12 in the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Draft. A regular with the Old Scotch Stars, and a product of the Duke Academy at MLC, Mimi also represented the Oakleigh Chargers and comes highly regarded by coaches and teammates for work-rate and leadership over her NAB League career. Mimi’s speed and class with ball in hand will be welcomed by the Blues, as well as her clean hands and developed craft around stoppages. Already capturing attention in her bottom-age year, Hill was selected to represent Vic Metro in the first round of the 2019 AFL Women’s Under-18 Championships. While Hill has played the majority of her footy on the wing, she can also transition across half back, making her a powerful utility player. Mimi was an integral part of the Old Scotch Stars inaugural premiership in 2019, where she won the award for best on ground in the Division 1 grand final against Old Brighton. We all wish Mimi the very best for this year and for the rest of her AFLW career. Go Mimi Hill!!!!
Former OSFC President Peter Warner awarded Australia Day Honour
The Club congratulates former OSFC President Peter Warner upon his receipt of an OAM in the recent Australia Day honours.
Peter received the award for his lifelong contribution to sport, and particularly for service to community cricket and football in Victoria.
Peter has had a lifelong connection with the Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club (formerly Camberwell Cricket Club), where he gave service of the highest order for decade after decade. It says a lot about Peter’s devotion to that club that he has put up his hand to lead it again this season. His astute leadership and vision has held the Camberwell Magpies in great stead for years.
Peter Warner, an old boy of Scotch College, first started supporting the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club in 1990 when his son Anthony Warner was recruited from Scotch College as an Under 19s player and played 165 games for the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club from 1990 – 1991, 1993 & 1995 – 2001, playing in the number “40” jumper, and debuting in our Seniors on 1 April 1995 after returning from Queensland.  Anthony played in our 1993 Reserves Premiership team captained by Gary Jackson and coached by David Kay, and in his last season 2001, he captained our Reserves coached by Gary Jackson.
In 1993, the Old Scotch Football Club re-located from Yarra Park to the Camberwell Sportsground. In 1994, Peter was elected Vice President of the Old Scotch Football Club whilst still President of the Camberwell Cricket Club in the VSDCA Competition. Peter continued as a member of our club and in 2006 – 2010 became a Silver club sponsor through his business Primary Edge Sports.
In 2007, the Camberwell Sportsground pavilion underwent a major refurbishment.  Our electronic scoreboard was named in Peter’s honour for his work in delivering the refurbishment with Council and his association with the ground in both cricket and football since 1954.
In 2014, Peter was appointed Treasurer of our club then, in 2015, when David McCleery retired as Co-President, Peter joined Rob Jamieson as Co-President, and served as our twentieth President of the Old Scotch Collegians Football Club for one year as Co-President. Then in 2016, Peter served for one more year as sole club president. Later, in 2018, Peter was again elected Vice President with responsibility for club administration, particularly with the City of Boroondara Council.
