On Wednesday 17 September 2025, Marsden students Claire Zhong (Year 8, Flute) and Milliann Lim (Year 13, Viola) performed at the prestigious NZSO Emerging Artists concert at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington. The concert, conducted by Hamish McKeich, featured works by Mozart, Mendelssohn, and Strauss, giving our students the opportunity to rehearse and perform alongside professional musicians as orchestral instrumentalists.

As part of the programme, each student received mentoring from experienced NZSO musicians to help refine their performance and build confidence. Claire was guided by Bridget Douglas, NZSO Principal Flute, throughout her journey. The NZSO Emerging Artists programme provides young musicians with a unique platform to grow, perform, and experience life as a professional orchestral musician.
