After several postponements due to weather, our Year 8 students finally wrapped up their William Pike Challenge this week with an action-packed day on the water at Ocean Sports. As part of the challenge, students are required to complete six outdoor activities, and sailing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding were the final events on their list. The Year 8s set out on the water on Tuesday and Wednesday and despite strong winds in the afternoon, the students made the most of the day, starting with water-based activities in the morning and moving to a classroom session to practice knot-tying and other essential skills. During the sailing session, students took the helm on keelboats, while others explored the waters by kayak and SUP, navigating waves, teamwork challenges, and the thrill of the open water. This combination of adventure, skill-building, and teamwork makes for a memorable conclusion to the Year 8 outdoor activities program. The William Pike Challenge encourages students to develop confidence, resilience, and practical skills while having fun - and this year's Year 8 cohort demonstrated all of these in abundance! ![]() |
