This week, our three Year 10 form classes completed their Qualifying Tramp for the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award, heading into Remutaka Forest Park for an overnight adventure. Each class tramped to Turere Lodge by the Orongorongo River, where they spent one night before returning the following day. The journey covered approximately 20km and provided an ideal opportunity for students to put their learning into action. After studying bushcraft in Term 1 Health, students were able to apply their skills in a real outdoor environment - planning and preparing their food in small groups, taking part in navigation to the hut, and meeting the challenges of tramping with confidence and teamwork. The experience was not only a key milestone in their Duke of Edinburgh Award journey, and a chance to build Manahau | Resilience. A huge thank you to all the teachers who gave up their time to accompany the students. ![]() |
