Four of our Year 9 students took part in the 2025 Middle School Ethics Olympiad on 24 November, representing Marsden with maturity, insight, and teamwork. The Ethics Olympiad provides students with a creative and engaging platform to develop skills in communication, critical thinking, and respectful discourse while exploring complex ethical issues. At the Olympiad, participants are affectionately known as Eth-letes — like athletes, they train for excellence, but in this case, in ethical reasoning. Unlike traditional debating, the Ethics Olympiad allows students to adopt any position they consider most justifiable, encouraging open-mindedness and thoughtful argumentation. Our Year 9 Eth-letes — Samah, Kareena, Georgia, and Shirley — worked collaboratively to compete against other North Island schools across four challenging heats. They were scored on clear, concise, and respectful discussion of a range of ethical cases, earning an Honourable Mention for their performance. Congratulations to our students for their hard work and thoughtful engagement. We are very proud of the way they represented Marsden. |
