Year 6 Experience Life in the Upper School
Friday, 28 November 2025

This week, our Year 6 students have been stepping into life in the Upper School, getting a feel for the routines and expectations they'll meet next year. They've been learning to read timetables, move confidently between classes, and plan ahead for the equipment they need in longer learning blocks.

A highlight has been their time in Digital Technology, where students explored both robotics and creative design. Using Edison robots, they customised lightweight newspaper armour before putting their battle bots into a friendly Sumo-style challenge — an activity that encouraged design thinking, testing, iteration, and the basics of robotics.

Students also had the chance to work with 3D filament pens, designing and crafting their own creations. This hands-on experience helped build skills in creativity, prototyping, and understanding materials and how they work.

It has been a rich and exciting introduction to Upper School learning, and the students will continue their transition activities later in the week.
